How to find and enhance the true you.
This is a question that every professional must ask themselves – who exactly am I? What qualities distinguish me from my colleagues? What can I do to make myself an even better version of me?
Self-evaluation is a great aspect of identity building and reflection. Here are some simply ways to do this:
1. Look at who you spend time with.
It has been noted that you become like the people you spend the most time with – what do these people say about you? Are you hanging out with the right ones? Do you like who you are when you’re with them? Believe it or not, who you are outside of work effects who you are at work, as well. Is this how you want to be identified by clients?
2. Own your strengths.
This one is more vague and a bit harder to distinguish. An easy way to figure out what you’re good at is to document little accomplishments throughout the day, such as “I followed up with all my clients,” “I called back my mom after I missed her call,” “I organized all my appointments for the week,” etc. Figuring out the little accomplishments you have on a daily basis will give you a better idea of what you excel in – as well as what may need a little work.
3. Build confidence in yourself.
This may be the most difficult one yet. Knowing the type of person you identify as also goes hand-in-hand with being confident in that person. Own who you are! You can never be the best version of yourself if you don’t feel confident in your own skin. Make it a mission to keep a smile on your face, change the way you walk around the office, and go at each day with a positive outlook. It may even change your perspective for the better.
