Looking for a creative way to motivate your sales team? Consider running a sales competition. Motivation and morale are the two M’s that drive a good sales force, and any successful business has this group of employees. If you motivate your sales team the overall energy of the real estate operation will increase.
Motivating Your Sales Team Through a Competition
In order to garner interest amongst your sales team you want to pique their interest in a competition by focusing on behavior drivers. For instance, you can lead a competition to see who can call the most people within a week’s timeframe, or who can generate the most responses via an email campaign, or even through direct mail postcards. This type of competition focuses on the quantity of impressions that a sales rep can generate.
Another sales competition idea is to see who can generate a greater social media following. A strong social media presence allows potential clients to gain further insight into the overall real estate operation, as well as invites potential clients a chance to personally know you. Instead of having the consumer search for you, you can then send out house listings via your social media platform of your choice and directly onto the consumer’s screen.

Holding events or seminars is another great way sales reps can reach out to the public. Perhaps the most personable and direct approach, networking events or seminars where you can teach the consumer about the real estate market provides the consumer with something valuable in exchange for their time. Drink mixer events, open house events, or insider market seminars are all examples of how your sales team can generate leads and meet with these people face to face. The gist of the competition would revolve around which rep had the most attendees or gave out the most tickets, per say.
All in all, sales competitions are a fun and creative way you can jumpstart a lackadaisical sales team. There are many methods you can employ to come up with a sales competition that will have all of your team clamoring to earn that extra dollar.
